The 2007-2008 season has wrapped up with the 29th Annual Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland April 17th - 27th, one of the world’s premiere educational jazz festivals.
Speaking of Jazz, we are very proud to announce that Cuyahoga Community College is a recipient of the prestigious Joyce Award for 2008. Tri-C has been awarded the commission of a new jazz score by vibraphonist and composer Cecilia Smith. Launched in 2004 as a yearly competition, the JoyceAwards target cultural organizations in Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, and St. Paul/Minneapolis. While the Chicago-based Joyce Foundation has long provided major funding to Chicago-area cultural institutions, the establishment of the JoyceAwards marked the expansion of its culture grant-making to other Midwest cities. To date, 20 organizations have received a noted Joyce Award. The Joyce Awards support Midwest cultural institutions to commission works by artists of color. With the announcement of the 2008 winners, the Foundation has now awarded one million dollars to leading Midwestern arts organizations and presenters.

As always, we continually strive to present arts and cultural events that engage our community through the performing arts and represent the diverse landscape of Cleveland.
